Georgia Tech Overhauls Distance Learning Technology at Its Global Learning Center
Georgia Tech recently upgraded the distance learning technology in its Global Learning Center. The university installed a PESA Cheetah 288XE digital video router, cameras, switchers, matrix switchers, and fiber connectivity, as well as PESA Vidblox extenders and QuadBlox units that are used to transport A/V and rich media content back to the new Cheetah router. Panasonic AW-HE60 PTZ cameras are used to capture video of lectures. Control rooms for the distance learning classrooms use the H.239 multimedia communications standard, which allows audio, video and data to be combined in a single stream.
