1950s: Overhead Projector While used by the U.S. Army as a training tool in the 1940s, it wasn’t until the late 1950s this piece of technology made its way into classrooms across the country. Overhead projectors allowed teachers to use pre-printed materials on plastic sheets for learning exercises.
