Extron Electronics has announced that the new XTRA series XPA 4002 two-channel power amplifier is now ready to ship. The XPA 4002, in line to replace the XPA 2002, is a 1U, convection cooled amplifier that can deliver either 400 watts rms per channel into 4 ohms or 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. At half the size of similar amplifiers, the XPA 4002 features an Extron class D design with patented CDRS-class D Ripple Suspension. The ENERGY STAR certified amplifier creates little heat, allowing the XPA 4002 to be convection cooled.
The XPA 4002 offers a power-down feature that puts the amplifier into standby mode after a period of inactivity. The amplifier will idle at about 30 watts, but while in standby mode, the XPA 4002 consumes around 1 watt of power. The XPA 4002 also features an ultra low inrush current draw that prevents circuit overload while running multiple amplifiers in sequence. Plus, featuring very low thermal dissipation under full load, the XPA 4002 amplifier and respective racks remain relatively cool. ![]()
