Extron Electronics just announced two new products, including the SW2 DP 2-input DisplayPort switcher and the DP DA2 2-output DisplayPort distribution amplifier. Both are designed for AV systems that require reliable switching and distribution of DisplayPort signals.
Each of the boxes are HDCP-compliant and can support data rates up to 10.8Gbps and computer resolutions up to 2560x1600 @ 60 Hz, including high-def 1080p/60. The boxes also have EDID Minder, an Extron exclusive. This tech promises continuous EDID communication between connected devices for a reliable display.
The DP DA2 is a standout, thanks to the Key Minder feature. Another Extron exclusive, this technology can continuously authenticate HDCP encryption between all devices, for simultaneous distribution of source content to both displays. It also has dual-mode support, so source signals can be distributed to multiple HDMI, DVI, or VGA display devices with appropriate adapters.
“The SW2 DP and DP DA2 are among the first DisplayPort switcher and distribution amplifier products for the pro AV industry,” says Casey Hall, Extron’s VP of sales and marketing. “These products enable AV system designers to take advantage of DisplayPort technology, delivering exceptional performance in a wide range of AV environments.”
