Extron really wants you to stretch those signals—again! This time, the company has announced the DDX 102 Dual Link DVI Fiber Optic Extender, a transmitter and receiver set that can deliver DVI signals over long distances, via fiber optic cabling.

Promising pixel-for-pixel transmission of video images up to 2560x1600 (including HDTV 1080p/60), the extender boasts dual link DVI-D signals up to 1,640 feet over multi-mode cables or single link DVI signals over one fiber optic cable.

The DDX 102 has industry standard LC-type connectors, for connecting to DVI source and display devices without extra mounting hardware. It’s also compact, making it a good option for a wide variety of applications. Other features include EDID Minder and an EDID capture mode.

“AV system designers, integrators, and consultants are turning to fiber optic technology because of its unique ability to send the highest resolution video signals over very long distances,” says Casey Hall, Extron’s VP of sales and marketing. “The DDX 102 provides a compact, cost effective solution for extending dual link DVI signals over fiber optic cabling.”
