In a recent pervasive video roundtable survey conducted by Dimension Data and CIO, technology executives reported high interest in all platform areas of videoconferencing—from mobile up to immersive.

They are looking to improve internal collaboration, productivity and improve innovation, the report says. Executives said their employees wanted to use video more, especially on PCs and tablets and that this is driven by the Bring Your Own Device trend.

CIOs did perceive the cost and complexity of videoconferencing as a problem to deployment. The barriers they perceived included creating an integrated cross-platform strategy.

Notable survey findings:

• Business drivers for pervasive video in the enterprise included improved collaboration, improved innovation, travel cost reduction, work/life balance, access to remote experts and improving time to market.
• Barriers to enterprise-wide pervasive video strategies included cost, complexity, stress on infrastructure, unpredictable usage and adoption, lack of AV-IT support and lack of end user demand.
• Business processes affected by video-enabled communications include internal communication, point-to-point training, point-to-multipoint (broadcast) training, customer facing collaboration, business reviews with partners and collaboration with experts.

Fifty senior-level executives from across all verticals were surveyed.
